Materials: Malachite and cast glass

Description: Humans across the world have dug for malachite since the late Stone Age, about four thousand years ago. Like lapis, ancient Egyptians ground it into pigment for tomb paintings; they also used the pigment as ‘eye paint’ applied directly to their eyelids, like makeup. History like that endlessly fascinates me; it’s hard to find stone as rich in color as this stuff.

Cast, cut, ground, and polished. With love.
