Materials: Zebra calcite and cast glass

Description: Found mostly in Mexico, zebra calcite forms when calcium-rich water deposits layers of the mineral in crevices in the limestone; the tri-colored banding occurs when the environment undergoes changes in temperature and pressure. Teaser: right now, I’m working on an incredible, large-scale piece using this stuff.
